Make Your Own Websites In 3 Simple Steps
Gone are the days of spending an arm and a leg for a simple website. Gone are the days when you have to rely on someone else to create the content for you, and THEN wait for THEM to make changes for you. Using simple blogging software, called WordPress, you can make your own websites in no time. Here’s 3 simple steps to follow.
3 Steps To Making Your Own Websites
Step 1) Learn how to host a website using a simple shared hosting plan, cheaply available on the web. These are seriously simple to set up, and will cost you under $10 per month.
The Hosting Plan is important, because you will rent space on a server to place your website files on. ALSO, and most importantly, you will have free access to WordPress, our blogging software that we are going to use create these websites.
Step 2) Purchase a domain name for your site. You can use the hosting company that you purchased a plan with, or you could go somewhere like GoDaddy.com or Namecheap.com to purchase a domain name.
TIP- .com, .net, and .org websites tend to be easier to rank high in search engines than other extensions. Also, you may want to include a keyword in the domain name! For instance, if you have a website about Goat Cheese Makers, then a perfect website would be called www.GoatCheeseMakers.com. Using a keyword in the domain name will make it easier for you to rank highly in the search engines for that search term/keyword.
Step 3) Install WordPress on the domain. This is not to be confused with making a blog on WordPress.com. Instead, we are making a WordPress.org site that we own completely. We can put whatever we want on the site without worrying about WordPress.com taking the site down for any reason.
Installing WordPress is as simple as a mouse click within a top hosting plan. Once you have WordPress installed, you simply log into the admin panel and get started adding content in the form of POSTS or PAGES. Then you can change the appearance of the blog to suit your tastes and needs by changing the Theme.
Further tweak the functionality of the site by adding Plugins. Change how the sidebar looks and what it contains by changing the Widgets.
Using WordPress is a simple process and there is a lot of documentation and videos available on the web that will teach you how to use it. You can create the most robust, functional, professional and beautiful sites with WordPress.
