How to Create a Website In 3 Simple Steps
If you are wondering how to create a website, then you may be getting a little overwhelmed with everything involved. Stop! It doesn’t need to be very complicated. Let me show you how to create a website in 3 simple steps.
Step 1- Purchase a Cheap and Reliable Hosting Plan- This is a cost that you cannot get around with making your own website. Even if someone else made a website for you, you would then pay them for hosting (way too much most likely!).
“Hosting your site” means putting your site files on a server. The server then puts the files on the web. (Sweet and simple version). It’s basically the “land” you build your “online real estate” on.
This will cost you anywhere from a few dollars up to $10 per month. Anyone selling a hosting plan for more than that is a rip-off. Period.
Step 2- Choose a Simple Software to Build Your Own Website With- Have no clue? Then I recommend WordPress to make a website with.
In the recent past, when most people talked about making a website, they were talking about creating a website from scratch with HTML code. This is difficult. This is time consuming. This takes expensive software like Dreamweaver. This takes serious education. This is no longer needed to create a professional website!
WordPress is installed onto the Domain Name that you chose for your website right inside your hosting account. Usually it is just a button you push, and you install it through a prompt system.
This is technically a “blogging software”, but you can make this software act as a professional business website, a personal website/blog, or anything in between.
Step 3- Customize Your WordPress Site- Here comes the fun part. You can choose between 1,000′s of “Themes” within your admin panel and choose which one is best for you. Maybe you want to customize the website completely with your own logo and pictures? No problem. Just make sure you choose a theme that allows you to upload a new picture for the logo, allows for customization of the header, etc… There are lot’s that allow these functions.
Add Some Widgets- Widgets allow you to insert functionality in the sidebars. For instance, you can drag and drop a calender to the sidebar, or maybe a text link… and much more is available with Plugins…
Add Some Plugins- “Plugins” are things you can add to the site to help with the functionality. For instance, maybe you want a picture in the sidebar on the right (or left) with a link. So when someone clicks the picture, you send them to another place on the web. There is a Plugin for that. How about adding videos into your site? There’s a Plugin for that. If you can think it, there’s most likely a Plugin for it!
Learning how to create a website is really not as complicated as many people make it out to be on the internet!
